I couldn’t hold back my anger anymore.
“Understand? Huh.” I scoffed, slamming my fist on the table. The elders were caught off guard by how I reacted, they weren’t ready for it.
Ignoring everyone else, I locked eyes with my father, my voice tinged with anger. “Are you really going to kill Debra?”
Without even a blink, my father responded coldly, “Yes. Her execution is set for three days from now. You’re welcome to witness the fall of the wicked witch. Maybe then you’ll snap out of her spell.”
Caleb’s POV:
“Great! That’s an excellent idea!” As my father spoke up, the elders nodded along. “Exactly! We should’ve done this ages ago. Witches should be gone! They don’t belong in our world!”
“Yes, every witch is trouble! They all deserve punishment!” It looked as if they were swept up in excitement, shouting “Witches must die!” with strange grins on their faces.

My blood boiled, chaos echoed in my mind, sparks flickered in my eyes, and my fists tightened with fury.
These people didn’t bother about whether Debra was good or bad, or what she had given up for the Thorn Edge Pack. All they worried about was if their power was questioned and who Debra really was.
My heart pounded wildly, my eyes teary, my hands and feet shaking, and my thoughts all jumbled. It felt like a surge of heat rushed through me all at once.
